Time Out – İstanbul
A landmark in hippie history In the pre-Lone/y Planet days of the late ’60s and early 70s. The Pudding Shop (founded 1957) was a bottleneck for all the overland traffic passing through on its tie-dyed, spliff-addled way east to Kathmandu In addition to the food, the place served up travel information, courtesy of the two brothers who owned it a busy bulletin board, and the like-minded company. It even crops up in the movie Midnight Express Smartened up for the 21st- century tourist – plate-glass windows, gleaming display cabinets and slick staff – the restaurant still doles out basic canteen-style fare no better or worse than half a dozen similar restaurants along this strip
